The
band was founded in 1992 by Marco Knetsch (vocals
& leadguitar), Jan Knetsch (vocals & bass)
and Hans Meijer (drums). They started out with the
name Imagine and, like any new band, performed
everywhere they were accepted to play.
Soon their
playing got better and better, and with that the
confidence grew. The band started creating their
own sound, their own identity. Marco and Jan
developed as songwriters which has become a
trademark. In 1996 still with Hans, Jan and Marco
together with guitarist Rob Könst, the band went
into a studio for the first time. The lost tapes
are still to be found.
After
going through several member changes and even more
name changes everything started to settle. Until
June 2009 the band called themselves 'Lekker
Belangrijk!'. A hard-to-translate Dutch expression
meaning something like "whatever, but not
really". It
was decided that with mainly English songs it was
better to also have an English bandname. After
various brainstormsessions the name 'The Netz' came
out.
Strong
compositions combined with superb 3 (or more)-part
vocals, in which Jan and Marco are complemented by
Peter de Liefde (Percussion/backing vocals),
together with the refined keyboard playing of
Patrick Schouten and the rockin rhythm guitar
of Rob Konst give the Netz a recognizable but
unique sound.
